HOT SPRINGS, AR (KAIT) – The Arkansas Army National Guard is helping the Arkansas National Forestry Commission fight multiple wildfires across the state.

Army Aviation Support Facility and 77th Theater Aviation Brigade, based at Camp Robinson, used two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters in Hot Springs early on July 4.

Black Hawk helicopters have buckets capable of dropping 660 gallons of water with each trip.

Soldiers have completed 70 missions by dropping over 50,000 gallons of water over fires across five counties: Boone, Clark, Dallas, Drew, and Pope. The mission will continue through the weekend.
