Texas man arrested in Region 8 could face kidnapping charges

CLAY COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Texas suspect faces possible kidnapping charges after being arrested in Clay County.

Clay County Sheriff Gerald McClung tells Region 8 News that sheriff's deputies arrested David Acosta on Highway 139 just east of Rector Tuesday night.

McClung says Arkansas State Police were on the lookout for Acosta and a female passenger. According to McClung, the woman texted her family in Indiana that Acosta was holding her against her will.

Acosta is in the Clay County jail for driving on a suspended license.

McClung tells Region 8 News that Acosta does have warrants out of Texas.

Sheriff McClung says it is up to the prosecuting attorney if Acosta will face a kidnapping charge.

The woman was not injured.
