3 teens dead, fourth charged with murder in juvenile court

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT)– A 17-year-old girl charged with murder in connection to the stabbing death ofanother teenager, had her case moved back to juvenile court this week.

According to SecondJudicial District Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington, the 17-year-old girlhad her murder case moved back to juvenile court in the stabbing death of NicholasZurosky on July 21, 2012.

Prosecutor Ellingtonsays the judge based her decision on the girls lack of criminal history, age,and a troubled past.

Here is a timeline ofthe events leading up to the murder charge:

 

  • July 6 - Nicholas Zurosky shot 18-year-old Lisa Steele athis home on Alice Street
  • July 12 – Joshua Wallace stabbed Nicholas Zurosky to deathat Zurosky's home on Alice Street
  • July 12 – Joshua Wallace hanged himself in the White RiverJuvenile Detention Center
  • Oct. 8 – The 17-year-old female was chargedwith first degree murder in Zurosky's death

 

Paragould Police sayon July 6, Nicholas Zurosky and Lisa Steele were playing with a gun when thegun went off, killing Steele. Police later named Zurosky a suspect in Steele'sdeath. 

On the day ofSteele's funeral, police say 16-year-old Joshua Wallace admitted to leaving thefuneral, confronting Zurosky and stabbing him to death. Police say he blamedZurosky for Steele's death. Later that night, Wallace hanged himself in theWhite River Juvenile Detention Center. 

Prosecutors now saythat Wallace had interaction with the 17-year-old girl, and she knew of hisintentions but did nothing.

On October 8, 2012prosecutors charged the 17-year-old girl, who is now 18, with first degreemurder in connection to the stabbing death of Zurosky. 

A neighborhoodresident who asked not to be identified said people in the neighborhood wereused to seeing police presence at the home on Alice Street.

"The police hadbeen there on numerous occasions for different things, so basically when wewould see them we would just wonder what had happened because unfortunately itwas a regular occurrence to see police cars over there," she said. "Thesekids all needed an intervention from what I've known of the ones I've heardabout."
