JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man who is accused of raping a young boy appeared in court Thursday.
According to the Craighead County Prosecutor's Office, Mark Allen Morgan had a trial date set for November 13th.
Morgan is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, sexual indecency with a child, a Class D felony, and rape/oral or anal intercourse with a person less than 14 years of age, a Class Y felony.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on July 10, children ages eight, 12, 13 and 16 told Jonesboro police "they had been going over to a man's apartment who had been giving them alcohol and making inappropriate sexual remarks toward them."
Police identified the man as 45-year-old Morgan who lived at Stratford Manor Apartments located at 1906 West Matthews.
July 11, one of the boys involved in the investigation told police on one occasion Morgan pulled his pants down and took advantage of him.
"The complaint was that this man was inviting children over to his apartment and giving them alcohol to drink and also showing pornographic movies to them," said Jonesboro Police Department investigator Mike Branscum.
Police say the children accused Morgan of sending them several texts and grabbing one of them inappropriately.
"(He was) a good communicator, letting them kind of come and go in his apartment as they pleased, and kind of developing a relationship and a trust there," Branscum said. "During the course of the investigation we also learned that there was additional physical contact made with some of the children."
A judge set Morgan's bond at $75,000.
Morgan is set to appear again in court November 13.
