PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT)
– A house fire in Paragould Friday afternoon kills a 6-year-old and injures a
2-year-old.
According to the Paragould
Fire Department, a 6-year-old was killed and a 2-year-old was injured in a
house fire at 714 South Sixth Avenue in Paragould Friday afternoon.
The fire department said
the two children were trapped inside the burning home, when firefighters were
able to break out a back window and pull the kids to safety.
They said both kids were alive and breathing when they
were transported from the scene to a local hospital. The 6-year-old was
pronounced dead at the hospital. The 2-year-old was transported to the Little
Rock Children's Hospital.
The names of those
involved have not been released.
The fire department
has turned the investigation over to Paragould Police Criminal Investigation
Department as standard protocol.
The fire department said
no foul play was suspected.
