St. Bernards thanks employees with fun-filled picnic

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – St. Bernards Medical Center pulled out all the stops Saturday to thank hospital employees.

The hospital held its annual company picnic for the first time at Craighead Forest Park, having outgrown its previous location.

The picnic was one of the events honoring the hospital's 112th anniversary.

Michael Givens, the hospital administrator, says what better way to celebrate that than with fun and games for all the employees and their families.

"St. Bernards is what it is because of our employees and our family of employees," Givens said, "so we like to every year celebrate that and thank them for the fabulous job that they do day in and day out taking care of our patients and our community. So, this is a day to celebrate each of them."

Givens said the hospital planned for at least 1,000 people to attend the picnic this year.

St. Bernards is one of only four Jonesboro businesses whose history spans more than a century.

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
