JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- St Bernards hosted a free "Lunch and Learn" today at the St Bernards Health and Wellness Institute focusing on "Cooking for a Healthy Heart."
The July "Lunch and Learn" was held in the Conference Room of St Bernards on 1416 East Matthews Avenue on the Eastern end of the Matthews Medical Mile.
Amanda McMillon, St Bernards Community Educator says, "You have to understand there are so many things that go into healthy cooking and healthy eating and of course, the food industry, sometimes they deceive us a little bit when it comes to what is on the box compared to what the ingredients are."
McMillon also says to load up on fruits and vegetables, use whole grain products and try to cut out as much fat as you can in order to have a healthy heart diet.
A heart healthy, diabetic lunch was provided around noon to the attendees and the session lasted about an hour.
The event is sponsored by the Craighead County Community Foundation, Genetech and St Bernards Medical Center.
