Fayetteville nursing home to close in 60 days

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Officials with Washington Regional Medical Center say the medical facilities nursing home - City Hospital in Fayetteville - will be closed.
The center's board and senior management announced Wednesday that City Hospital will shut down in 60 days because of deterioration of the building. An inspection of the building in May by the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services found fire safety code, housekeeping and maintenance deficiencies.
City Hospital administrator Jane Nemetz told the Northwest Arkansas Times that the building won't close until long-term care is found for each of the 72 residents. She said space had been found for about half the residents as of Friday.
The facility was Fayetteville's first hospital and opened 100 years ago with 48 beds.
