LUXORA, AR (KAIT) – A teenager who ran away from police while in shackles is back behind bars.

According to Luxora Police, 18-year-old Kurt Morris was arrested at a home on Davis Street in Blytheville Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Morris escaped July 9 when he led Luxora Police Chief Albert Wright to a wooded area behind several houses on Eva Street to recover a stolen gun.

As Chief Wright searched for the bag, Morris ran.

Morris was wearing shackles when he escaped.

Chief Wright said Morris could get an additional five more years to his sentence for the escape. Wright also said anyone helping him elude police could face charges as well.

Morris was in jail on burglary and theft charges.
