Lotto rallies for lottery retailers

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Lottery sales in Arkansas bring in millions of dollars for college scholarships.

Those that sell the scratch-offs and lottery tickets are the primary contacts the Lottery Commission has with the general public.

Over the next several days in 4 locations around the state, lottery representatives will be meeting with retailers to train and educate them about upcoming games and new scratch off tickets that will go on sale this fall. Robert Stebbins the Director of Sales for the lottery said the new games are coming soon.

"We're going to talk a little bit about, we have a new Arkansas lotto game which starts August 27 and it's called the Arkansas State Jackpot. It will be similar to power ball where we can draw 5 nights a week."

On the tables the technology that the retailers use were displayed for training purposes. Stebbins said that the reason they started in Jonesboro is simply because the retailers here have brought in so much scholarship money. "Nearly 26 and a half million in scholarships." He said with a grin. "This is a great area."
