JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro police have arrested a man in connection with an armed bank robbery.

The Jonesboro Police Department tells Region 8 News that they have arrested Darrell Joey Isbell, 53, in connection with Wednesday morning's bank robbery.

Isbell is the person of interest police had in their custody after the bank robbery.

According to Jonesboro Police, a person of interest was stopped in a neighborhood near the bank shortly after it was robbed. When police questioned the man, they found out he had warrants, and he was placed under arrest.

"He was contacted, (identified), had an outstanding warrant out of the county," said Lt. Roy Coleman. "County officers came and transported him to the jail. He was wearing some boots, brown type work boots, that we believe may match the boots that the suspect had on."

Jonesboro Police say the Heritage Bank at 3101 Southwest Drive was robbed around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Bank employees described the suspect as a white male wearing a black mask with a "screen" over his face. Police say the mask is a type of hunting gear.

Witnesses also believed the man stood around 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 9 and weighed between 170 to 180 pounds. Employees said the suspected robber had salt and pepper hair and wore black clothing with brown work boots.

During the robbery, police say the suspect showed a gun and carried some kind of explosive device with what appeared to be a timer attached.

Police believe the suspect came into the bank from a wooded area behind the bank.

No injuries were reported during the robbery.

Region 8 News will continue to track this story and provide any new developments as soon as they become available.
