JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Neighbors opened their hearts and
their wallets this weekend for the eighth annual Stuff the Bus event.
Volunteers accepted cash donations and school supplies at a
number of Walmart stores across the region, including in Jonesboro. Everything
collected will be distributed to 24 area schools.
Jacob Riley with the Crowley's Ridge Development Council
says thousands of area students will now have what they need to be successful
this school year.
"I want to say thank you to each and every person that's
given," Riley said, "whether it was one little folder of a whole basket full –
whether it was one dollar, a dime, a nickel, anything. Thank you so much for
giving back to our kids."
The United Way of Northeast Arkansas helped organize this
event along with several partners including KAIT, the Jonesboro Radio Group and
the Crowley's Ridge Development Council.
