JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – People learned this weekend thatmaking their homes energy efficient will hardly break the bank.
The Craighead Electric Cooperative hosted an open house atits newest energy efficient home.
The four-bedroom house is located on Craighead County Road425 in the Valley View school district.
It was built using a variety of energy-saving features, andthe builder, Toby Bunch, says these will significantly lower the home's utilitycosts.
"This house, it's 1,800 square feet basically," said Bunch,who own Signatures Home & Development. "The heating and cooling costs aregoing to be around $63 a month."
Bunch was assisted during construction by the renownedenergy expert, Doug Rye.
"Higher utilities have actually helped this a great deal,"Rye said about an increasing interest in energy efficiency.
"People now start saying, man, and churches and everywherehave these utilities as a big part of their budget and people making lessmoney," he said, "it's a bigger part of that."
