Blytheville PD arrests suspect in shooting death

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) – Blytheville Police have a suspect in their custody, who they say shot a man to death Monday night.

According to Blytheville Police, 39-year-old Derrick Deshawn Grant turned himself in to detectives around 10 a.m. Thursday after 47-year-old Ralph Reno was found shot to death behind some apartments in the 500 block of 16th Street Monday night.

Grant will be arraigned in Blytheville District Court Monday, Aug. 13 on the charge of first-degree murder.

Reno's body has been sent to the Arkansas State Medical examiner's office in Little Rock, where an autopsy will be conducted.

No word on a motive for the shooting.

The police department would like to commend the community on assisting detectives with information leading to Grant's arrest.
