KENNETT, MO (KAIT) -  Kennett voters pass ordinances for taxes that will replace several city fees.

The ordinances detail a one percent sales tax and a one-half of one percent capital improvement tax that will replace the Kennett property tax, merchant license fees, city automobile stickers, and building permit fees.

The Kennett City Council approved the ordinances back in May.

Kennett Mayor Jake Crafton says the replacement tax could generate as much as 2 million dollars for the city.

Voters overwhelmingly passed the measure 1400 to 400.
