Izard County Sheriff searching for copper thieves

The Izard County Sheriff's office is asking for your help to find the person or person stealing cooper wire from Century Link phone lines. The Izard County Sheriff's office is asking for your help to find the person or person stealing cooper wire from Century Link phone lines.

IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The Izard County Sheriff's office is asking for your help to find the person or person stealing cooper wire from Century Link phone lines.

The Izard County Sheriff's Departments is offering a $2,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the copper thieves.

Sheriff Tate Lawrence says these thefts put the community at risk because residents could be without phone or electric service.   He believes the copper is being sold as scraps to recycling centers.

Anyone having information regarding the theft of copper cable is asked to call the Izard County Sheriff's Department's Crime Tip HOTline at 870 368 4312.  Anyone seeing a cable theft in progress is asked to call 911.
