JONESBORO, AR - Arkansas is among 22 states where farmers and ranchers can start signing up for a program that pays them to protect and improve natural resources.
The Conservation Security Program will be available for producers in 18 watersheds. Farmers have until July 30 to seek a share of the program's $41.4 million.
The money will help producers cover costs in using environmentally friendly practices in managing soil, water, nutrients and pesticides.
In Arkansas, the program affects farmers within the Little River Ditches watershed.
