WEST MEMPHIS, AR (KAIT) –Mid-South Community College (MSCC) will dedicate its newest facility, the $9 million Marion Berry Renewable Energy Center, Aug. 24 at 10a.m.
A ticket-only dinner will also be held the nightbefore to raise proceeds for development of the Marion Berry Scholarship.
The building is named inrecognition of the Honorable Marion Berry, the longtime First DistrictCongressman who directed over $55 million the eastern Arkansas for the economyand education. The center will provide a facility to support entrepreneurs,workforce training, and applied research in using renewable agriculture to helpcreate new businesses and jobs across the region.
MSCC received a $2 milliongrant from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic DevelopmentAdministration to assist in the construction of the center. An additional $1.2million from the U.S. Department of Labor was provided for program developmentand equipment for an engine testing facility.
