RAVENDEN SPRINGS, AR (KAIT) – The Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Arkansas State Police, 3rd Judicial Drug Task Force and the Ravenden Springs Marshall executed a search warrant at Melvine"Sue" Wood and Richard Leavitt's property in Ravenden Springs.
According to Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, they found an estimated 317 grams of marijuana at their home. Tribble said illicit drug use has always been a concern.
"The illicit drug activity in our county or in our city, it's our objective to decrease that or minimize that for our citizens," Tribble said.
Drug paraphernalia, and two firearms, one of which was loaded, was also found on the property.
Wood and Leavitt are facing possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. All charges are felony offenses.
"They did have a hearing yesterday, our judge set their bond at 50-thousand dollars or surety," Tribble told Region 8 News.
Tribble commended his department on getting drugs off the street.
"This is just one of those times where I think we've enabled being proficient in our efforts to fight the drug problem," Tribble said.
When Region 8 News stopped by the Sheriff's Office, no one was in at the Court Clerk's office. Both Wood and Leavitt have bonded out of jail. They're set to appear in court again on September 17.
Tribble said the finding is still under investigation.
