Some local drivers have feared that a bridge collapse like the one in Washington State this week could happen closer to home. People have been particularly fearful of the aging Black River Bridge that connects Black Rock and Portia on U.S. 63 in Lawrence County.
JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 nursing home has officially relocated.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new location for the Jonesboro Healthcare Nursing Center. The new facility contains 3 dining room areas, 136 beds, a salon, bistro, rehabilitation center and gym.
Owner Jim Santarsiero says this facility has been a dream in the works since 2004. "We're not only adding more beds and state of the art services, but we're also going to employ about another 25 individuals."
The facility also contains an outdoor walking path and patio.
April Tate with the Jonesboro Healthcare Center says the facility also contains a unit specializing in Alzheimer's. "Anybody familiar with dementia patients, a lot of times they just like to walk. They just kind of pace, you know. " Tate said, "So, we have designed this for them to have a walking track outside. They have their own sitting area. Just something for them to enjoy"
The new Jonesboro Healthcare Center is located at 1705 Latterette Drive.
