CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) – A Caruthersville man caused some serious damage during a drunken driving accident, said police.
Caruthersville officers said William Craig was arrested shortly after he wrecked his black Chevrolet pickup and was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving on a revoked driver's license.
The officers said when they arrived on scene, they found Craig's truck in front of the Economy Inn on the intersection of Truman Boulevard and Locust Avenue inside the ditch and another damaged vehicle, which belonged to Matthew Downey, on the Save-a-Lot parking lot.
Investigators said Downey was driving southbound on Truman and was attempting to make a left turn onto Locust when Craig struck his vehicle on the driver's side, causing major damage.
After hitting Downey's vehicle, Craig also struck two concrete curbs and the State Crosswalk sign before hitting the ditch a coming to complete stop, said police.
Police have not said if either of the drivers sustained injuries.
Craig was taken to the Pemiscot County Justice Center.
