JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) —Arkansas State fans are encouraged to help send the Red Wolves off in style for their football season opener this weekend.
The team will be departing ASU Stadium at 9:15 Friday morning for its trip to Eugene, Ore., to take on the Oregon Ducks. A-State fans are encouraged to gather near the ASU Football Facility beginning at 8:45 to cheer on the players and coaches as they load the buses to depart on the trip.
"While we know Red Wolves fans everywhere will be behind the team Saturday night thanks to a national television broadcast on ESPN, we want to make sure the team knows the fans are behind them from the moment they step out of the football facility," said Gleen Hart, Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing. "This is just a way to make certain the Oregon trip, and the entire 2012 season, get off on the right note."
Also on Friday, Arkansas State fans are encouraged to wear red as part of the national "College Colors Day" promotion. A-State is one of many schools nationwide to take part in the nationwide spirit initiative which was spearheaded by ESPN and the Collegiate Licensing Company.
The Red Wolves and fifth-ranked Oregon kick off the season Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. Central before A-State heads back to Jonesboro for its home opener against Memphis Sept. 8.
Season tickets for ASU's 2012 football campaign are currently on sale at the ASU Ticket Office. The ticket office can be contacted at 870-972-ASU1, or tickets can be purchased online through A-State's official athletic Web site AStateRedWolves.com.
