From Williams Baptist College
A rainy weekend forecast has forced Williams Baptist College to postpone their softball camp that was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 1.
The camp will now take place on September 29.
The morning session, which runs from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., is open to players ages 7 to 14, with the younger and older players divided into two groups. The session will focus on skills and drills. Each camper will get the opportunity to work with the Lady Eagles softball team and coaches. Areas to be covered include fielding, throwing, hitting, slapping, bunting, pitching, base-running and being a "good athlete."
Pre-registration for the morning session begins at 8:30. The cost is $25 per camper, with a team discount available for groups of seven or more.
The afternoon session is for players entering their freshmen through senior years of high school, and it will be limited to the first 40 athletes who register. Pre-registration begins at 12:15 p.m., with the camp running from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
This section will be administered like a college exposure camp and will also include at least one scrimmage game for the registered players.
Although attendance is not guaranteed, invitations will be sent to the following colleges: Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Ill.; Dyersburg State Community College in Dyersburg, Tenn.; Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, Tenn.; Crowley's Ridge College; Arkansas Tech University; Central Baptist College; Lyon College; Henderson State University; Ouachita Baptist University; Southern Arkansas University; University of the Ozarks; North Arkansas College; Arkansas Baptist College and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Cost of the afternoon session will be $40 per athlete.
The Lady Eagles have been regular season champions of the American Midwest Conference for the past three years and went to the NAIA National Softball Tournament this year.
