Internet Victim of "International Attack" This Morning

SAN JOSE, CA - If you were on the Yahoo!, Microsoft or Google Web sites this morning, and thought it was moving slowly or you got a time-out error, you weren't alone.

The company that distributes the content of these Web sites on servers around the world says the inaccessibility was due to a "large-scale, international attack on the Internet infrastructure."

Keynote Systems, a Web performance measurment service, says the only sites where it saw trouble were those served by Akamai Technologies Incorporated.  It also says the problem didn't affect the Internet as a whole but just a few large sites.

The problem lasted about two hours.
