American Red Cross blood drive hosted by NEA Baptist today

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Hospital staff were hoping to help the American Red Cross raise the amount of blood in their stock.

Jerrie McArthur, Blood Bank Supervisor for NEA Baptist Hospital, says the amount of blood donated to a hospital is crucial to saving lives.

Francis Hawkins, one of today's blood donors says, "It's just very important to save lives, of course. That's the number one reason and anything I can do to better help the community and reach out is what I want to do."

According to the American Red Cross, this region alone needs 400 units of blood a day.
