LITTLE ROCK, AR - U.S. Senator Mark Pryor says the country is "rightly involved" in Afghanistan.
But he believes that at the moment, it doesn't need to provide more than the $2.2 billion already allocated to rebuild that country. Pryor says the U.S. should consider itself on standby to help provide more stability to Afghanistan, if needed.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai was in Washington, D.C., this week thanking American officials for their support. The United States has increased its presence there to about 20,000 troops and is helping to train security forces.
Pryor also said he doesn't want to dwell on the country's "foreign policy stumbles" in Iraq and looks forward to more international support in that area following last week's U.S. Security Council resolution.
