Region 8 SuperStar™ Rules & Regulations

  • "Region 8 Superstar" (hereafter called 'the Contest') is open to legal U.S. residents at least 10 years of age in the Region 8 viewing area except employees and family of KAIT & Liberty Corporation, Jonesboro Indian Mall Limited Partnership, Triple FM Radio Group, and the Design Shoppe. A winning contestant may be asked to provide proof of age and address to determine eligibility (typically a driver's license or birth certificate). To become a contestant, registrants under the age of 18 must have approval with a signature from their parent or guardian. In addition, registrants asked to participate as contestants must agree to sign a 'Liability And Indemnity Agreement' with Jonesboro Indian Mall Limited Partnership. Also, parents of registrants under the age of 13, must sign a parental consent form to comply with COPPA requirements.
  • Contest Entry was made by completing a Contest Registration Form, complete with a representative performance recording on CD, cassette, or VHS tape. Contest entry forms are available online at and in person at the service desk at Indian Mall, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Registration deadline is Thursday, July 7, 2005, 9:00 PM CDT.
  • Previous Contestants in 2004 who finished First, Second or Third in the Finals are not eliglible for the 2005 Region 8 SuperStar competition 
  • A committee consisting of sponsor representatives will review all registrants' entries and will select a percentage of both Junior and Senior Division Contestants to compete in the Performance phase of the Contest. Contestants qualifying for the Performance phase of the Contest will be notified the week of July 11th.
  • The Performance phase of the Contest will run over a five week period beginning Monday, July 18th, 2005 and ending with the finals and contest winners chosen on Monday, August 15th, 2005. Four (4) Preliminary Round performances will be held on successive Mondays in Indian Mall at 6:30 PM. Preliminary rounds will be held on July 18, July 25, August 1, and August 8, during which selected Contestants will perform live. All live performances should be between 2 ½ and 3 ½ minutes. When streamed over the Internet on for viewer voting, all performances will be cutoff at 3 ½ minutes, if necessary. Contestants may have accompaniment with 'carry-on' instruments, such as a guitar. A cassette/CD player will be provided as part of the sound system on the stage in Indian Mall. Accompaniment is the responsibility of the contestant, and is subject to compatibility with the sound system. This is a solo competition only. Preliminary round contestants must perform a different selection than that submitted with his/her registration demo CD/Tape.
  • KAIT will videotape and stream performances online at . During the following week of each Preliminary Round, the public will be able to vote on their favorite performance each week, beginning Tuesday at 3 pm, and ending Thursday at 3 pm. Voting will be accomplished via online balloting at Performances will also be judged by a contest Judges Panel, consisting of local community members. One winning Contestant from both the Junior and Seniors Divisions will be determined after each Preliminary Round by combining 50% Judges Panel score and 50% online voting results. Winning contestants from each Preliminary Round will be asked to participate in the Final Round on August 15, 2005.
  • New for 2005, one (1) 'WildCard' contestant will be chosen in each division, junior and senior, from all contestants in all preliminary rounds.  The Junior and Senior WildCard contestant will be the one which has scored the highest from the judges, but who have not advanced to the Finals.
  • The Final Round on August 15, 2005 shall consist of Contestants, who won each preliminary round. Final Contestants will be asked to perform a different selection than that used in their Preliminary Round performance. The Judges Panel will select First-place winners based on the Final Round performances in both Junior and Senior Divisions. The Winner in each division will be announced immediately following the Final Round performances live at Indian Mall. The decision of the Judges Panel will be final, and the sole determining factor in selecting Contest winners in the Final Round. Online voting will not be conducted during the Final Round.
  • The Winning Contestant in each age division will receive a $1000 Indian Mall Shopping Spree. Shopping Sprees will be conducted by Indian Mall Management and must be scheduled and coordinated in advance. Second and Third place prizes TBA. 
  • Entry in the Contest constitutes permission to use the Contestant's name and likeness without further compensation.
  • Five dollar ($5.00) registration fee required to enter. A portion of registration fees will be donated to the Arkansas Children's Hospital. Taxes, if any, are the responsibility of the individual winners. Contest is void where prohibited. Contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws. Each entry indicates acceptance of and agreement to rules and decisions of judges which are final and legally binding. No transfer of prizes permitted. No prize substitutions except as provided herein: KAIT & Liberty Corporation, Jonesboro Indian Mall Limited Partnership, Triple FM Radio Group, and the Design Shoppe reserve the right to substitute prizes with cash equivalence or similar items of like value should a prize become unavailable. By accepting prize(s), winning Contestants hereby releases Liberty Corporation & KAIT, Jonesboro Indian Mall Limited Partnership, TripleFM Radio Group and the Design Shoppe, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, and licensees and their respective employees, agents, officers, directors, and owners of each such entity of all liability.  Additional restrictions and regulations may apply.
