From Harding University
Harding freshman Audrey Adkison headed in a cross
from fellow freshman Melissa Minnich just 33 seconds
into the second overtime to give the Lady Bisons a 4-3 victory over Lyon College
in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday.
A goal by Harding
senior captain Lauren Scharf in the 68th minute
gave the Lady Bisons a 3-1 lead, but Lyon's Maria Monterroso scored in the 79th
and 88th minutes to send the game into overtime.
Harding (1-3-0) had not
scored a goal in its first three games but scored two very quickly against Lyon
(2-5-1). Freshman Adair Schmidt scored on a 25-yard
shot in the 14th minute and sophomore Anne Fitzgerald scored directly
off a corner kick in the 18th minute to make it 2-0.
The two teams
combined for 45 shots, including 29 shots on goal. Harding sophomore goalkeeper
Danielle Nonaka tied her career
high with 12 saves.
Harding now turns its attention to Great American
Conference play. The Lady Bisons take on defending conference champions East
Central on Friday in Ada, Okla. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
