FAYETTEVILLE (ArkansasRazorbacks.com) - Alumnus and Razorback supporter Bill Conner will participate in the "A" Walk of Honor on Saturday prior to Arkansas' football game against Rutgers at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
"For more than 40 years, Bill Conner has generously provided support for our program and Razorback student-athletes," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and has gone on to a successful professional career in Fayetteville. Whether it is football, basketball or baseball, Bill Conner is there to cheer on the Razorbacks as one of our most loyal fans. We are proud to recognize Bill with the "A" Walk of Honor."
Conner is a Broyles-Matthews Platinum member of the Razorback Foundation and has been supporting Razorback Athletics since 1971. He is a longtime football, men's basketball and baseball season ticket holder. In 2011, Conner made a gift to help fund the football center, which is under construction and will be completed in the summer of 2013.
A 1970 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree from the College of Education and Health Professions, he currently resides in Fayetteville and is the President of Ozark Marketing, Inc., a poultry brokerage firm founded in 1981. Bill is a native of Batesville and his wife Faune is a native of El Dorado. Both Bill and Faune will participate in the "A" Walk of Honor on Saturday.
"Running through the A" is one of the Razorbacks' most storied football traditions. While "Running through the A" is a tradition reserved only for members of the Razorback football team, Razorback Athletics created a program to honor those individuals or groups who have played a significant role in the support of Razorback Athletics.
Honorees are invited to participate in this unique pre-game experience and are recognized on the video board and over the public address system as they walk through the "A" formed by the Razorback Marching Band. After completing the walk, honorees help complete the "A" before welcoming Coach John L. Smith and the Arkansas Razorback football team on the field just prior to kickoff. Honorees will also be inducted into the "A" Walk of Honor Hall of Fame.
Previous honorees have included members of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, former Arkansas coach and athletic director Frank Broyles, the Willard and Pat Walker family, Jim Lindsey, Bob and Marilyn Bogle and the Jennings Osborne family.
