9 Picks: LSU to beat Auburn, Jags, Saints look for first win

Updated:
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

This week LSU travels to Auburn, Southern plays Jackson State and the New Orleans Saints host the Kansas City Chiefs. Finally, there are some good top 25 matchups. Let's get right to it:

(2)LSU (3-0) at Auburn (1-2)

Auburn held off the SEC, slaying UL-Monroe Warhawks this weekend in overtime, but it will be a little different when the Tigers from Baton Rouge come to town. Watch for LSU to wear down Auburn. This may very well be Zach Mettenberger's coming out party:

LSU: 32     Auburn: 13

Southern (0-2) at Jackson State (1-2)

After Southern's stunning 6-0 loss to Mississippi Valley State, head coach Stump Mitchell was reassigned at Southern. Now it's interim head coach Dawson Odum's turn to lead the team. Look for the Jaguars to put up a great fight to get their first win:

Southern: 21    Jackson State: 20

Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) at New Orleans Saints (0-2)

The Saints defense must be happy this week, there is no RG3 and no Cam Newton! I just don't see Matt Cassell running an option. Devery Henderson is back and Drew Brees will be as well, the Saints get just what the doctor ordered:

Saints: 31    Kansas City: 17

Missouri (2-1) at #7 South Carolina (3-0)

Missouri's James Franklin and South Carolina's Connor Shaw are both back for this weekend's SEC showdown, but it will be the Gamecocks running back Marcus Lattimore that will be the difference in a close one:

South Carolina: 24    Missouri: 21

#10 Clemson (3-0) at #4 Florida State (3-0)

Jimbo Fisher's Seminoles host the Clemson Tigers Saturday night in primetime and the winner will take a big step toward being included in the BCS conversation. Clemson will rely on the Tahj Boyd to Sammy Watkins hook up, but it won't be enough:

Florida State: 38    Clemson: 17

#18 Michigan (2-1) at #11 Notre Dame (3-0)

The Irish have a front seven that can slow down the Wolverines offense and an offensive line that can dominate Big Blue's defense. But don't forget Michigan does have Denard Robinson, but he just won't be enough:

Notre Dame 20     Michigan 17

#15 Kansas State (3-0) at #6 Oklahoma (2-0)

Kansas State is lead by quarterback Collin Klein, but Oklahoma is 13-0 under Bob Stoops in Big 12 openers. Well, make that 13-1 as the Wildcats will beat the Sooners in my upset special. Please do not tell WAFB's Lauren Westbrook.

Kansas State: 31    Oklahoma: 27

Kentucky (1-2) at #14 Florida (3-0)

Kentucky is coming off a stinging defeat against Western Kentucky, while Florida is riding high after a big victory in Knoxville. The Gators' quarterback Jeff Driskel gets better each week and this week will be no different, Gators chump:

Florida: 27     Kentucky: 16

Baylor (2-0) at UL-Monroe (1-1)

The Warhawks -  two overtime games against two SEC teams, WOW! But two SEC teams in two weeks will take a toll on any team. Baylor will catch UL-Monroe at the right time:

Baylor: 35     UL-Monroe: 14

LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 4-3
