KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

A woman faces assault charges after a reported stabbing on Thursday evening.

Starkittkuss Thompson was charged with assault first degree and armed criminal action.

Kennett police say they received a call around 9:48 Thursday night about stabbing on Beaton Street.

Court papers show Thompson told police the stabbing happened because the victim drew back her fist and was "picking" on Thompson, and she "just snapped" and stuck the victim several times.

Police say the victim had been stabbed several times in the neck area and had several other puncture cuts.

Williams told police that she threw the knifes down after leaving Beaton Street Apartments and ran towards a relative's home.

Police say they found the knives and collected them as evidence.

Thompson was later arrested at residence on North Vandeventer Street.

She was taken to the Dunklin County Jail.
