ASP release names in Monday morning crash

CARAWAY, AR (KAIT) – Arkansas State Police have the released the names of a person who died and another who was injured in a head-on collision east of Caraway Monday morning.

According to ASP, Brittany Dawson, 22, died and Brock Dawson, 3, was injured; both were from Burdette.

Police said Darren Coatney, 21, of Caraway, was traveling west on Highway 158  when his black Ford truck crossed the center line and struck Dawson's eastbound Chevy at County Road 69 near Milligan Ridge around 7:45 a.m. Dawson's car then went off the road.

Coroner Dewayne Seaton pronounced Brittany Dawson dead at the scene, and Brock Dawson was airlifted to The Med in Memphis.

Investigators say the truck caught fire after the accident, but the driver was able to make it out safely.

Both Dawsons were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
