"Piano Man" visits Jonesboro Visual and Performing Arts School

JOENESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Students at the Jonesboro Visual andPerforming Arts School got to sit down Tuesday with a national piano artist.

Jim Witter stopped by the school to talk with students aboutthe arts.  He performed for the kids beforehitting the stage at the Fowler Center.

He says it is important to keep students aware of the artsbecause schools all across the U.S. and Canada, Witter's home country, are constantlycutting arts programs. "There are so many studies that prove that kids who takemusic lessons, take dance lessons, get involved in the visual arts do betterall around." Witter said after performing for the students.

He also aimed to show students that you can make a careerout of the arts. "People think that it's something you do because you love it,"Witter said, "I want people to know there are a lot of things you can do withit.  You can make a career out of it aslong as you follow your heart and do what you love to do."

Witter performed "Piano Man" Tuesday night at the 2012-2013Fowler Center Series.
