IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Pineville man faces domestic charges after an altercation Thursday night.

Izard County deputies were called out to 86 East Jacksonport Road after they received a call about a domestic violence incident.

When they arrived, they found a woman standing on the front porch.  That woman said Joseph Gaston, 28, woke her up and began to choke and punch her.

After entering the home, Deputies found Gaston holding his one year old baby. They say he appeared aggravated and ordered the officers out of the house.

Police attempted to arrest Gaston but the man struggled when police put him in hand restraints.

According to Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Gatson was charge with 3rd degree domestic battery, resisting arrest, and endangering the welfare of a minor.  Lawrence says felony domestic charges are pending because the victim is pregnant.

Gaston is being held in the Izard County Detention Facility pending an appearance before a judge.
