Harding and Central Baptist played to a 1-1 double overtime tie in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday at Harding Soccer Field. It was Harding's first overtime game of the season and first since a 1-1 tie at Ouachita Baptist last season that clinched a postseason berth.
The Bisons (3-4-1) were playing at home for the first time since going 1-3-0 on a recent four-game road trip that included its first three Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association games.
Harding's next two games are MIAA games in Searcy. The Bisons host Upper Iowa on Friday and Truman State on Sunday.
Harding took an early 1-0 lead against Central Baptist. Junior Ryan Wilhelm got loose down the left side and sent in a cross that reached the right edge of the 18-yard box. Senior Victor Moya flew in and planted a header inside the post. It was Moya's first goal of the season and fourth of his career. He became the ninth different player to score one of Harding's 10 goals this season.
The Bisons' lead lasted until Central Baptist's Herman Bassindia chipped a shot over Harding goalkeeper Chase Keeney in the 73rd minute.
Harding outshot Central Baptist 21-9 but managed only four shots on goal.
Central Baptist (4-3-2) had won the previous two meetings between the teams prior to Tuesday's tie.
