Crowley's Ridge Nature Center hosts "Turtles of Arkansas"

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Forrest L. Wood Crowley's Ridge Nature Center hosted the free program "Turtles of Arkansas" Saturday afternoon.

As winter approaches, most of the reptiles in Arkansas are looking for a place to hibernate, but the turtles at the Nature Center are active year round.

The presentation at 2 p.m. today gave people the opportunity to see several different types of turtles.  "Most people just think of a snapping turtle or a box turtle, but we actually have 19 different species and subspecies of turtles here in the Natural State," said presentation coordinator Cody Walker.

Call the Nature Center at (870) 933-6787 for information about upcoming programs and events, or click here to go to the Crowley's Ridge Nature Center web site.
