Bull Shoals - White River State Park invites you to our 5th Annual Dutch Oven Cook-off on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Day Use area of the park. Don't miss your chance to experience this unique style of cooking that has been practiced since the days of the earliest settlers.
Contestants will compete by preparing their favorite dishes the old-fashioned way; with cast iron cookware and hot coals. Spectators will be able to watch as the teams showcase their craft and can taste samples for a nominal fee! Prizes will be awarded for each category: bread, main dish, dessert and showmanship. Cooking begins at 10 a.m. and judging begins at 2 p.m.
Contestants will be divided into one of three divisions: Professional Division, Amateur Adult Division (never placed in a competition before), and a Youth Division (16 and under).
The event will also feature musical performances by local talent, as well as food vendors, craft vendors, etc.
This event is free to the public, funded by the 1/8th cent conservation tax of Amendment 75. Contestants are welcome to contact us; early registration is recommended.
