From Harding University
Harding men's soccer will play an extra home game this season after its contest
with Delta State was moved from Cleveland, Miss., on Monday due to an unplayable
surface at Delta Field.
Harding and Delta State will play at 7:30 p.m.,
at the Harding Soccer Field.
The game would have been the first of five
straight road games for the Bisons, but will instead be its fourth straight at
home.
Harding is coming off a 3-1 loss in MIAA play Sunday against Truman
State. The loss dropped the Bisons to 4-5-1 overall and 2-3-0 in conference
play.
Bison junior Ryan Wilhelm made history in the
game, scoring the second-fastest goal ever by a Harding player. His goal 59
seconds into the game was second only to Jeff Ireland's goal 44 seconds in
against Lynn in 2001.
Delta State enters the game 5-4-0 overall, but the
Statesmen have lost their last three, including a 5-3 loss to Union on Sept. 28
in their last outing.
Delta State fans have been treated to plenty of
goals this year, both by the Statesmen and their opponents. Delta State has
scored 23 goals and allowed 20.
Harding and Delta State have competed in
men's soccer every season since 2003 with the Bisons holding an 8-2 series lead.
The Bisons have won five straight, but the last four have all been by one-goal
margins.
