From Harding University
Harding and Delta State played to a 1-1 double overtime tie Tuesday in men's
soccer action at Harding Soccer Field. The game was played in Searcy due to
unplayable field conditions at Delta Field in Cleveland, Miss.
Trailing
1-0 in the second half, Harding (4-5-2) scored the equalizer on a Delta State
mistake. The Statesmen lost possession of the ball just outside their own
18-yard box, and Harding sophomore Shea McGee stepped in to corral
the loose ball. McGee dribbled into the left side of the box and beat Delta
State goalkeeper Milos Boskovic to the far post.
The goal was McGee's
third of the season, tying him with Ian Park for the team
lead.
Delta State (5-4-1) got scored less than four minutes before
halftime. In the 42nd minute, Sebastian Ridout and Luke Mason worked a perfect
give-and-go through the middle of the Harding defense with Mason scoring for the
first time this season.
Harding had the best chance to score in overtime.
Bison sophomore Jacob Stevens had a shot inside
the 6-yard box that was cleared off the goal line by a Delta State defender in
the 92nd minute.
Delta State outshot Harding 14-10 overall, but Harding
had five shots on goal to Delta State's four.
Harding's next action is
Saturday against Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark. The non-conference
contest begins at 3 p.m.
