LITTLE ROCK, AR - With an effort underway to put a proposal on the November ballot legalizing the medical use of marijuana, opposition is cropping up. A group called the Coalition Against Legalized Marijuana has been formed. That group says the various medical marijuana laws and initiatives offered in different states are just "stalking horses for efforts to fully legalize marijuana."
The coalition has scheduled a news conference today at the state Capitol to discuss what its members see as problems with the medical-marijuana initiative. Participants say they'll talk about why the proposal is poor public policy and, in their words, "terrible medical policy." Also to be discussed are plans to oppose the initiative.
