CALICO ROCK, AR( KAIT) – Izard County SheriffTate Lawrence and Deputy Mark Semino visited Calico Rock Head Start Tuesday.

According to the sheriff's department,the two officers told the students about stranger safety, fire dangers, drugand alcohol awareness, and how to contact emergency services, and in additionto showing the students their patrol cars.

Sheriff Lawrence said he always enjoystalking to kids about their own safety. He added that the children he spoke toMonday were very sharp were obviously taught well both at the school and attheir homes.

Sheriff Lawrence said each childreceived a safety coloring book, an underage alcohol prevention pencil, and ofcourse, a candy sucker.

Similar programs are planned for BrockwellHead Start and the Melbourne Head Start in the near future.
