Arkansas State University sophomore Kristina Aubert has been selected as this week's Sun Belt Conference (SBC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week in an announcement made this Wednesday (Oct. 3) by the conference office.
The
weekly league honor represents the fifth time in which Aubert has received such
recognition as the A-State standout was a four-time (Sept. 14, 28 and Oct. 5,
19) selection in 2010. She earned weekly conference plaudits the final three
weeks of the 2010 regular season.
Aubert recorded a season-best 17:35.88 time
to earn a team-leading 47th-place individual finish at last Saturday's (Sept.
29) 11th annual Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Ky. She
played an integral role in A-State claiming 20th place with 595 team points in
the 31-team meet field. With her notable performance, Aubert helped the Red
Wolves top several nationally-ranked teams and more than two dozen
regionally-ranked squads on the muddy 5K course.
This fall, Aubert captured
top honors at the Arkansas-Little Rock (UALR) Invitational (Sept. 7) by clocking
a time of 17:45.20 in the 5K race. She opened this season with a second-place
18:24.27 time at the 5K Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic (Sept. 1).
Aubert
notched one of her 2010 SBC Runner of the Week Awards following a 27th-place
effort with a 17:42.24 time at the Greater Louisville Classic (Oct. 2).
A
2011 All-Sun Belt Conference pick, Aubert was also tabbed as SBC's Freshman of
the Year and attained NCAA South Central Region laurels for the 2011 season.
