BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT)- A Midway man faces child endangerment charges after taking his step child's medication.

A woman reported to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday that when she was giving her 6-year-old son his prescription medicine, she noticed that the capsules were empty. The woman told deputies that her husband Noel Santoro, 40, had been gone all day with the medication in his vehicle.

Santoro's wife also told deputies that a school official reported that her child had not been behaving normally and asked had he been taking his medication.

On Thursday, sheriff's investigators located Santoro and brought him in for questioning. During the interview, Santoro admitted to them that on three separate occasions, he took the medication from the capsules and placed the empty capsules back into the bottle.

After investigators determined that Santoro consumed the medication, they arrested him on three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree.

He is in the Baxter County Detention Center. His bond was set at $1,000.

Santoro is scheduled to appear in district court on October 11th. He was also served a no contact order that prohibits him from having any contact with his step child.

Santoro is also in jail for a probation violation.
