From Harding University
Harding men's soccer plays the first of four consecutive road games Friday with
a 3 p.m. kickoff against Ouachita Baptist. The game is also the first of two
non-conference games before Harding returns to MIAA play on Oct. 11 at Southwest
Baptist.
Harding (4-5-2) is coming off a 1-1 tie with Delta State on
Tuesday. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Cleveland, Miss., but
Harding got an extra home game due to heavy rains in Mississippi that left Delta
State's field unplayable.
Harding trailed early against Delta State but
tied the game in the 79th minute on sophomore Shea McGee's third goal of the
season. It was Harding's second tie of the season, both of them coming at home
on Tuesdays.
The Bisons have scored goals in seven straight games and in
10 of 11 games this season. The only shutout came at Lyon (4-0) on Sept.
12.
Ouachita Baptist (3-6-0) enters Friday's matchup on a three-game
losing streak. The Tigers' most recent loss came Sunday in a 5-0 loss to
Incarnate Word. Ouachita Baptist has not scored in its last three games, and the
Tigers' last goal came in the 70th minute of a 3-1 victory over Texas College, a
span of 310 minutes without a goal.
Harding and Ouachita Baptist met
earlier this season on Sept. 7 in Searcy. The Bisons won 2-0 on a pair of second
half goals from McGee and Christopher Walker. Harding
freshman goalkeeper Chase Keeney collected the shutout
and had five saves.
The Bisons and Tigers will be meeting for the 15th
time with Harding holding a 9-3-2 series lead. The series is tied 3-3-2 in the
eight previous matchups in Arkadelphia. The teams tied 1-1 on Ouachita Baptist's
home field last season.
