Economic impact of the Downtown Jonesboro BBQ Fest

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Downtown Jonesboro attracted a huge crowd Saturday with the BBQ Fest. Despite the rain, many were still at the event enjoying live music, crafts from vendors and BBQ.

The Director of Sales and Marketing at the Jonesboro Holiday Inn says that when events go on like this, tourists usually check in for more than just a day.

"Growth has been tremendous here in the last five years so it's a great opportunity for them again to come back. we get people here that come and make a week of it. We had people start coming in on Tuesday so they definitely make a week of it and see all there is to see."

Watson says they are making preparations for the ASU Alumni that are visiting next weekend for the homecoming game.

This was the 6th year this event is held and .38 special headlined who was set to go on stage at 9 p.m.
