From Harding University
Ouachita Baptist senior midfielder Payam Pourjavad scored two goals and
added an assist to lead the Tigers to a 5-1 victory over Harding on
Friday in non-conference men's soccer action.
Harding (4-6-2) trailed 2-0 at halftime after Pourjavad scored in the
28th and 38th minutes. The Bisons pulled a goal back in the 64th minute
on a goal by junior midfielder
Ryan Wilhelm, his third of the season
and eighth of his career.
Harding's momentum was short-lived. Ouachita Baptist (6-6-0) scored just
over a minute later on a goal by senior Rizvan Ceka on a feed from
Pourjavad.
The Tigers added goals by Bry Goss and Clayton Case in the game's final 10 minutes.
Ouachita Baptist's victory evened the season series. Harding won the first matchup 2-0 in Searcy on Sep. 7.
Both teams had 11 shots Friday, and Harding had seven shots on goal to
Ouachita Baptist's six. Tiger sophomore goalkeeper David Henley made
five saves.
Harding will play its third straight former Gulf South Conference
opponent Christian Brothers on Sunday at 5 p.m. It will be the second of
four consecutive road games for the Bisons.
