FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) – A Forrest
City woman has surrendered herself to authorities after her former employer
noticed several items missing from her home.
According to the Forrest City Police
Department, Kassie Weatherford, 22, of Colt, was taken into custody for theft
of property over $5,000 after police said she took several pieces of her former
employer's property over the course of two weeks.
Police said Weatherford had previously
worked at the home as a baby sitter, but it is not clear if she was still
employed there at the time of thefts.
Weatherboard later surrendered herself
on an outstanding warrant at the police department. She was arraigned in St.
Francis County District Court.
"When you hire someone to work in or around your home,
try to get as much information as possible about that person's background,"
said Police Chief E.P. Reynolds. "Get
references from previous clients, family and friends, if possible. We can never be too careful about who we let
into our homes."
