The Harding men's golf team is in sixth place among 10 teams after the first
round of the Indian Bayou Classic, played Monday at Indian Bayou Golf
Course.
The Bisons are 10 strokes off the lead after shooting a
season-best round of 303. North Alabama leads the event at 293.
Harding
junior Lucas Collins fired an even par 72
and is tied for fifth individually. He trails North Alabama's Ricky Stimets and
Matt Stephens by three strokes. Collins, who had 14 pars, two birdies and two
bogies, has played two of his three rounds this fall at par or better. It was
his fourth career round of par or better.
"Lucas continues to lead our
team with impressive scores," head coach Dustin Howell said. "Our team needs
to get on the same page and play the golf they all have inside of
them."
Sophomore Brandon Clark is one of three
Bisons playing as individuals in the tournament. He shot a season-best 1-over 73
and is tied for eighth.
Harding freshman Alex Williamson shot 75 and is
tied for 20th.
The second and final round will be played Tuesday.
