PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – Less than ideal weather conditions
delayed things from getting off the ground this weekend in Paragould.
Overcast skies and a dense fog slowed the annual Airport Day
festivities for a few hours Saturday until the sun peaked out again.
People could then donate money for an airplane ride and got a
chance to check out the local airport.
Donis Hamilton and the Paragould Pilots Association organize
the event each year.
"It's a great joy for us," Hamilton said. "It also builds a
lot of goodwill, we think, for the community as far as airport operations and
justifies, we hope to some degree, the monies that are spent in the budget
every year by the city on our airport."
The proceeds from Airport Day are used to fund various
activities throughout the year, including putting on a safety program each
summer for area pilots.
