Dense fog delays airplane rides in Paragould

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – Less than ideal weather conditionsdelayed things from getting off the ground this weekend in Paragould.

Overcast skies and a dense fog slowed the annual Airport Dayfestivities for a few hours Saturday until the sun peaked out again.

People could then donate money for an airplane ride and got achance to check out the local airport.

Donis Hamilton and the Paragould Pilots Association organizethe event each year.

"It's a great joy for us," Hamilton said. "It also builds alot of goodwill, we think, for the community as far as airport operations andjustifies, we hope to some degree, the monies that are spent in the budgetevery year by the city on our airport."

The proceeds from Airport Day are used to fund variousactivities throughout the year, including putting on a safety program eachsummer for area pilots.
